First Baptist Children's Musical

Sunday evening the children's choirs at First Baptist had their Christmas musical. It was mainly the children's choir, but the preschool choir had a few parts in the musical. Their choir sang the opening song, and my sweet Georgie said the opening prayer. (Georgia can say the sweetest prayers, and she is always called on at church, and family get-togethers to say the prayer or blessing.) But she was most excited because she got to play Mary! She has been so excited about this and was beside herself the night of the musical. I was very proud of my little girl!

Butler Christmas Party

Saturday night Ned and Betty (Grandma and Grandaddy Butler) hosted the annual Butler Christmas party at Johnny G's restaurant. It was fun to get to hang out the all the Butlers. Someone eating in the restaurant said, "Man that's a lot of Butlers in one place!" HA!! All Butlers....and Joey! I laughed and told Joey to get in the picture because he was a Butler now, whether he wanted to be or not!

Breakfast with Santa

Saturday morning the Talisi Women's Club hosted a Breakfast with Santa at the Methodist Church. The Butler crew made our way to see Santa and have a pancake breakfast. This was the kids second time to see Santa, so they were a little more at ease with him. Jack didn't scream and cry when he saw him, and he actually stood next to him. Daniel didn't cry either, he just kept turning around looking at him. Of course, Georgia went right up and sat in his lap. We had the best time, and it was Michael's birthday, so it was fun we all got to do something together.

I call this picture "Georgia Anne Thornhill" .....because Beth and Byron wanted to get a family picture with Santa, and when they went and got next to Santa, Georgia just decided she wanted to be in the picture too. Someone said, "Look, there's a new Thornhill!" We told her to get out of the picture, she proceeded to cry, and sweet Beth told her to come get in the picture with them anyway! Later Georgia told me, "I am their family, Mama."

We've got a tooth!!

Well after months of waiting, Daniel FINALLY has a tooth!! He was a late bloomer (like his brother and sister). At nine months, we (well, technically he) have one pearly white on bottom. Michael laughs and says he is a "Tennessee boy....one tooth in his head" (sorry to any of my readers in or from Tennessee...it's all in fun). I just crack up every time he smiles big at me...that one little tooth on bottom smiling back!

Tallassee Christmas Parade

The Tallassee Christmas Parade was this past Saturday...and it was FREEZING COLD!! For about ten years now, Michael has broadcast the parade for the radio station. This year, we continued the tradition with the live broadcast on 1300 WTLS, 106.5 FM and www.1300wtls.com. We were excited this year we were also able to broadcast via webcam at www.TallasseeTimes.com!! (By the way, if you missed it and would like to see it, you can still watch it....just click on the "on-demand" tab at www.tallasseetimes.blogspot.com) Well this year, we stepped it up a notch by having a presence in the parade. With my Dad's persuasion, Mom, Georgia, Jack and I rode in the Mercedes for the radio station. Georgia chose not the ride with Studio B Dance Center this year, so she could ride on our "float" and throw candy. We learned a valuable lesson this year....buy more candy...a LOT more candy! We only threw candy to the kids and we ran out about half way through. It was really embarrassing....little kids shouting at you, "we want candy!!" Anyway we had about a five gallon bucket full of candy, and it wasn't near enough!!

Taco Soup

So I was tagged by Cathy Davidson on her blog to share a favorite recipe. As the mother of three, and also a lady who doesn't really like to cook, I thought I'd share a favorite of ours that is super easy and really good...Taco Soup. This is great when you have to feed a crowd and is a great stand alone dish. Enjoy!

Taco Soup
1 to 1 1/2 lbs. hamburger meat
1 package ranch dressing
1 package taco seasoning
2 cans diced tomatoes
1 can Rotel tomatoes
1 can kidney or pinto beans
shredded cheddar cheese
Fritos
sour cream

Brown hamburger meat and mix with the next five ingredients. Simmer until all ingredients have had enough time to cook thoroughly and mix together, usually about 15 to 20 minutes. Top with Fritos, sour cream and cheese.
Now it's your turn! Post a recipe on your blog and then add three names to the end of it. Go to their blog and post a comment letting them know to go to your page and check out your recipe. Then they post their favorite recipe to their page and let three more people know what to do and so on.

Christmas Card Out Takes

It's that time of the year....the time I start totally STRESSING out about Christmas cards and the ever important picture for the card! I use to think it was hard getting a good picture of Georgie. Then came Jack, and getting a picture of the two of them together was even more of a challenge. Then came D, and it is near impossible to get one of the three together! Well, this year I was determined to get things under control and get these cards done early so I can mail them the first of December instead of about three days before Christmas like last year. I am proud to say it only took two "sessions" to get the shot. I thought I'd share a few of my favorite pics from the first attempt....none of which are going to be used for the card. You must wait to see that......

Jack-O-Lantern

The kids and I carved a Jack-O-Lantern tonight. Georgia has been learning about pumpkins at school the past few weeks so she was very interested in this activity. She told Jack all about the pumpkin. When we lit it, Jack cried and said he was scared! Pretty good, huh?

Kidergarten Field Trip

Last week the entire kindergarten class at Tallassee Elementary School headed to Union Springs to Dream Fields Farms for their first class field trip. What a blast everyone had!! There were so many fun things for the kids to do...a petting zoo, tractor races, a hayride, corn field maze, hay slides, inflatable jumpers, cow train ride, corn "sand" boxes, a pumpkin patch, churning butter....and I know I'm forgetting something! Georgia was most excited that she got to ride a school bus for the first time. Mrs. Dickerson is the best teacher. I loved seeing how she interacted with the children and made all of them feel special and loved.
